It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant using leverage and proper technique; most notably, by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat them. BJJ can be trained for self defense or sport grappling tournament competition. We do not force students to test themselves on the sporting mats but the school does attend all major competitions in the state so the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training at Trinity is geared towards self defense but has a heavy emphasis on tournament and MMA competition. The understanding of positions, points and legal moves is enforced. A typical class will start with a warm up exercise that is specific to the day's training, instructed and monitored technique training with a partner and then rolling. Sparring(commonly referred to as 'rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training. This is what gets the body in great shape and can not be matched with weights, cardio equipment or any other exercise. This is a top notch class with some of the best instruction and rolling in the state of Texas! Our record proves that. Beginners are welcome and will be helped by an experienced Team Trinity student to help guide them through the basic positioning and concepts of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We have Kids, Teens, Women, Men, Old and Young this martial art and sport is for everyone!
In these classes you will
learn how to take an opponent down to the ground, pin and counter your
opponents wrestling. This is a fast paced sport that plays a massive
role in MMA and in Submission Grappling/NoGi tournaments. Even in the
Submission Grappling class we emphisize a lot of wrestling into our
game. Every BJJ, Wrestling, MMA and Submission Grappling match starts on
the feet so therefore this must be a part of your game! (Shorts,
Mouthguard, groin protection- wrestling shoes and shirt/rashguard
optional)
This is where we put it all together! Leg locks and throws of Sambo, joint-locks, choke holds and positioning from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and takedowns and overall control from Wrestling are all combined here. Submission Grappling, also known as Submission Wrestling, rules allow almost every technique as does MMA. With the rise of Mixed Martial Arts and Submission Wresting we are about being as a complete grappler as possible and being open minded to new techniques that work! Brandon Quicks student's records speak for themselves! (Training gear- shorts, groin protection, mouthguard, -wrestling shoes, shirt/rashguard)
