WRESTLING- In these classes you will learn how to take an opponent down to the ground, pin and counter your opponents wrestling. This is a fast paced sport that plays a massive role in MMA and in Submission Grappling/NoGi tournaments. Even in the Submission Grappling class we emphisize a lot of wrestling into our game. Every BJJ, Wrestling, MMA and Submission Grappling match starts on the feet so therefore this must be a part of your game! (Shorts, Mouthguard, groin protection- wrestling shoes and shirt/rasguard optional) BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU (GI) It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant using leverage and proper technique; most notably, by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat them. BJJ can be trained for self defense or sport grappling tournament competition. Sparring(commonly referred to as 'rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training. In this class you will learn how to use your own gi and your opponents gi against him. (Training Gear- Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi, groin protection, mouthguard) SUBMISSION WRESTLING This is where we put it all together! Leg locks and Judo throws of Sambo, joint-locks, chokeholds and positioning from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and takedowns and overall control from Wrestling are all combined here. The primary focus of Trinity Combat Academy is Submission Grappling and MMA. Sub Grappling, also known as Submission Wrestling, rules allow almost every technique as does MMA. With the rise of Mixed Martial Arts and Sub Wresting we are about being as a complete grappler as possible and being open minded to new techniques that work! TCA student's records speak for themselves and this is by far where we excel at the most! (Training gear- shorts, groin protection, mouthguard, -wrestling shoes, shirt/rashguard optional) LEG LOCKS With the rise of No Gi/Submission Wrestling divisions in tournaments such as N.A.G.A., Grapplers Quest, ADCC and many smaller regional tounaments leg locks has become a major factor in the grappling game. Team Trinity has had great success submitting opponents with leg locks at tournaments so much so that Coach Quick has opened up a class to perfect the leg lock techniques for No Gi and MMA competitors. Other grappling sports do not concentrate so much on the legs but we here at TCA believe that its half of the body and therefore one must train leg locks to be a complete submission grappler!!! (Training gear- shorts, shirt/rashguard, groin protection, mouthguard-wrestling shoes optional) SAMBO Team Trinity has recently become affiliated with the American Sambo Association and is now offering basic Sambo classes. TCA holds a Bronze Medal ranking as a Pro Club Member with the ASA and will continually be working with the ASA to add to and improve upon its Sambo. Sambo is a form of sport, self-defense, and combat established in the former Soviet Union during the early twentieth century. Under the leadership of Sambo’s forefathers V.S. Oshchepkov, V.A. Spiridinov, and A. A. Kharlampiev, indigenous fighting styles from regions including Japan, China, Mongolia, India, Africa, Europe, North America, Caucasus, and Russia were studied and blended into what is now known as Sambo. After generations of civilian and military refinement, Sambo has evolved into an extremely formidable fighting art with principles applicable to martial artists of any style. Sambo’s arsenal includes, but is not limited to, strikes, joint locks, chokes, throws, ground fighting, and weapons. Unlike many martial arts Sambo does not use katas, forms or curriculum. Team Trinity's classes primarily consist of basic Sambo throws and submissions. (Training Gear- Kurtka or Gi top, shorts, mouthguard, groin protection - wrestling shoes optional)
